Innovative Project:

My Role on This Project: Solo Developer

Typing is hard right? Yet it's becoming ever more important as we become more dependent on the internet. Here is a game to help everyone understand the basics of typing through something everyone can enjoy, Music!

This is a typing edutainment game focused around using the music to help you remember and retain proper hand placement. While this won't fix your spelling mistakes, it will help those learning typing for the first time or people that need a refresher course.

The goal with this project was to an innovative game that we as developers could call our own. Through many days of researching of what genre of game I would like to create and why, I decided to make a rhythm-based edutainment game that teaches you how to type by staying on beat with the music.

The idea came from my own memories of when I was a kid and had to play typing games in school to learn how to type. The one I mostly played was Type To Learn 3, a space themed typed game that involved learning by playing minigames. I didn't want to base my game on just one other so I looked into other typing games and found the Mavis Beacon series, Pokemon: Typing Adventure and even the Super Mario Typing game.

As for what I did with this project, well it was everything. I created the music in a program called Bosca ceoil which I learned how to use while I was creating this project. Artwork was done with Aseprite, a pixel-based program that I worked with before and lastly the game engine I used to create this was Game Maker Studio 1.4 which I had the most experience using at the time.

Overall I am proud to show you my end product is!
